Blog Lovin'

Today I was lucky enough to be featured on my friend anna james's blog.
I feel honored, thank you anna!  You're pretty much the coolest person I know.  But really.

Check out her awesome photography blog here.

Have a happy sunday :)

today's reflection

Today I got the opportunity to take my Grandma up to LDS Hospital to visit my Grandpa.

At age 93, Grandpa weighed 104 lbs when they admitted him into the hospital on Thursday.

It was a beautiful and yet crisp day for a car ride up in the avenues; the sun was bright and the sky was blue.

Grandma has never been one short for words.  I don't think I said much the whole drive, but I was okay with that.
Grandma loves to tell stories, and I love to listen.

Besides telling me that she was an old lady about 10 times, She told me many other things.
She looked me straight in the eye and told me of her experiences when she gave birth to two babies.  It was almost a sacred moment she shared with me.  She described it as a triumphant and an euphoric moment that she'll never forget.
I just looked at her with gratitude for all that she labored to get me here to this earth.

After getting lost up in the lovely avenues, we finally arrived at the hospital and took the elevator to Grandpa's room.

As I wheeled Grandma in on her wheelchair, you could see how happy they both were to be in eachother's company again.

Then there was a moment unprofane.

Grandma sat next to Grandpa and put her hand on his bony thigh and told him to not worry about her, that she'd be alright and that we were all taking good care of her.
You could see look of exhaustion and anxiety on my Grandpa's gaunt face.
It was hard to see my Grandpa like that.
You could tell all he wanted was to be home and taking care of Grandma.

As I watched them interacting, I realized how much I wanted that kind of love one day.  It was so real and honest.  It was pure.

When grandparents get old and frail you start to think about the things that they have taught you.

You remember the times Grandma would brush your red curls;
and the times Grandpa would call you a chip head.

And you never forget it.

German Rap...SAY WHA?

Recently my friend Ben showed me this guy.
His name is Peter Fox, and he's a German rapper/reggae master.
Yeah, me too.  Never thought I'd enjoy rap.
There must be something in the water...

Do you know of any good international singers/bands that I should look up?

Major Decisions

I have a dilemma...

If you had the opportunity to live in Germany for the summer nannying and traveling through Europe basically for free, but getting paid very little,
or have a job this summer making money to actually pay for rent this coming fall.

which would you choose?
I need some feedback!
I'm seriously torn about this.
so many opportunities that I might never have again.
learning German, traveling to Venice and Austria, actually living in a foreign country.  Pretty sure this seems like a dream come true.

What would you do?
